Antigua St John's - Housing Census (Census 2011) was regionally coordinated as were the 1991 and 2001 censuses.
Antigua and Barbuda benefited from technical assistance from the CARICOM Regional Statistics Programme (CRSP) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) which purchased equipment and software licenses used by the Census Office.
Census 2011 was different from previous censuses in two ways. Firstly, the 2011 Population and Housing Census captured both defacto and dejure counts whereas previous censuses captured the defacto count only.
The defacto population includes only persons present in the country on Census Night.
Secondly, Census 2011 utilised the post-Census Day enumeration as opposed to pre-Census Day enumeration as in the previous censuses.
This preliminary data release is intended to bring to the attention of the general populace the demographics compiled from the visitation records used in the 351 enumeration districts throughout Antigua and Barbuda in Census 2011.

At present, the completed census questionnaires are being manually edited, scanned and electronically verified and coded in-house. Upon completion of these processes, the data will be analysed and the final report will be prepared.
The Census Office wishes to thank the census workers and the citizens, residents and visitors who cooperated during the enumeration process.

St. John's City on 2.9 Sq Miles with a Population of 22,193 and density of 7,652.8: In the Developed World that is a City which must have a Municipal Government. GOAB must now do the Honourable Thing. Scrap the SJDC. Pass A Municipal Act. Let Good & Visionary Governance Begin.
St. John's Rural on 25.6 Sq Miles with a pop of 29,054 has now surpassed the City. The Unplanned Growth must be brought to an end. The Land Use(Zoning) Plan must be enacted quickly and DCA given teeth to enforce the Law. There may be no alternative but to form one Municipal Jurisdiction with St. John's City.
The Boundaries Commission will have a huge and difficult task before it to meet 2014. Shaka & Chaku a la **in are rubbing their hands with Glee. ABEC will be in turmoil and the Good Lady Senator will herald the cry of Ethical Badmindednes. Heaven Help the Nation Of Antigua & Barbuda including the Seabirds, Goats & Guano on Redonda
