The government has been working to complete a number of improvement plans.
One of the projects recently completed is the 300 meter extension of the runaway at V.C.Bird International Airport.
The project began in February 2008 and experienced a few hiccups and cost approximately $7 million. It is now officially completed and was handed over to the government on Thursday.
This extension will allow the airport to accommodate larger aircraft.
Unfortunately, the new runaway cannot be used until international regulators have approved it as safe for operation.
Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer says stage one of the airport renovation is complete and the nation is looking towards the other phases of this renovation project.
Spencer says that once the improvements are completed, the airport will be one of the finest airports in the world.
