Olivere Lewis, at 14, should be concerned about school and social activities. Instead, she has put her life on hold to care for her mother, Beverly Stephens, who has multiple melanoma cancer.
This particular type of cancer dries out the blood and bones, and has a high occurrence rate in people of African decent. The best option for Stephens, at this point, would be to have a stem cell transplant which can cost up to US$80,000.
The transplant allows a patient to receive very high doses of chemotherapy radiation treatment, followed by the implantation of new healthy cells into the body.
Meanwhile, Stephens is unable to work and is in immense pain. She also must travel to the USA for treatment, which of course adds to the expenses.
Her daughter has put out a plea asking for monetary help. This can be paid to the Beverly Stephens Medical Fund at Bank of Antigua (Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank).
She is also requesting information on specialised surgeons for cancer related illnesses.
This can be sent to her aunt via email at
