AG Says - No Comment

AG Says - No CommentAntigua St. John's - Nathaniel “Paddy” James is appealing for a response from Attorney General Justin Simon about an injunctive order that prevents him from offering his services to the public.

James said Simon has acted unlawfully. “The intention of the Land Act,” he said of the AG, “is to do the opposite of what it is you are actually doing. Serious allegations have been made against you, and you are a minister of the crown and under the cabinet. The allegations were corroborated by the letters from Mrs Hill. She sought advice from you, and the public deserves an answer.”

When Caribarena spoke with Attorney General Justin Simon, he said he had no comment. “I will not respond,” he said. “If I do reply, it will be in my own time, but not right now.”

Cecilia Hill also chose not to comment, saying only that “I acted under the instruction of the Attorney General.”

James, however, had more to say on the matter.

“Somebody must see through all this. My allegations are not false,” he said. “Mrs Hill admitted to acting on the advice of the Attorney General, Mr Justin Simon. I am appointed as a notary public - according to the Notary Public Act 295 of the Laws of Antigua & Barbuda.”

He added, “I am not a solicitor. I am a notary public, appointed after examination by the Chief Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.

A notary public is also a legal practitioner according to the Civil Procedure Rule of the Eastern Caribbean CPR 2000. I have been functioning within my rights for 19 years, and no one has reported me for unlawful acts. We offer a service for the people.”

To the AG he said, “The people deserve for you to comment. As a public official, how can you refuse to offer the public a response, or any form of explanation?”

That AG has always been a xxx. Years ago I had dealings with him and knew right there and then that he is just a Dominican xxxl, nothing more. How the hell you bang water cum ah Antigua and be given a chance to be a servant in our government to our people and you are refusing to answer and if you so do you will do it in your own time??????????? Hell no, a coup d'etat would be my first move, but wisdom advises me to use the ballot box .... for now.

I WILL NOT RESPOND. SAYS JUSIN DE AROGANT.

#9 OUTOFANTIGUA » 2013-02-26 23:59

This boldface arrogance of this a.g. so secure is he and without Fare of any reprisals to Him or anyone in his circle. Sometimes it’s fair to Fight Fire with Fire. My solution to his swollen Ego is to set him adrift in a Row Boat to Dominica, this is Poetic enough. To take back control of our country my motto is do unto them, what they would do unto you. Justin Simon is determining to rewrite our Constitution in His Likeness, and he must not be allowed to cause more damage. Time to turn this thing around comrades. (I will not respond & if I do it will be in my own time. these are his words he should be made to eat them.

so Mrs. Hill is saying she acted on the advice of the AG? Where is your brain woman? But I get it. Radford Hill is a potential replacement Senator. So both of you are caught up in the UPP puppetry. I thought better of you - especially with such a last name and the family history. Shame, shame, shame on you :-|

Accountability left ANU on a one way ticket many years ago, so don't look for it from any of these officials.

I agree with JB. This smells to high heaven of victimization again. This is unethical, unjust and totally wrong. Some explanation and notice ought to be given under the laws of any self respecting country. Otherwise, it will always appear as contrary and victimization. This is coming from a Government that self-proclaimed that its governance would be transparent and for the people. Never again will I be fooled by such words that carry no meaning to the Lords and Kings of Government.

Of course there will be no response or a response when persons feel good and ready. BUT I TAKE THESE LESSONS AND STORE THEM. These are the same persons who get up on radio and tout the good virtues of the Caribbean Court of Justice (C.C.J.). I CANNOT SEE HOW I COULD EVER VOTE FOR THIS INSTITUTION (C.C.J.) WITH THE LIKES OF JUSTIN SIMON AND THEM AROUND. NEVER!!!

The Attorney General has an obligation to answer Mr. James. The Attorney is a servant of the people.

Oh Come On Justin...Say Something! Your attitude is childish...to say the least!

The stench! You nah smell uhm?

#2 JB » 2013-02-26 05:51

Wah really a happen in Antigua and Batbuda,,,the practices of these 'high' officials smell very foul...! Anyways, the higher they are, the farther and harder they fall...I smell the stench of victimization.. .again I caution us not to allow individuals to use their powers to trample on the rights of others. If we sit down and say, "Oh ah because a one ALP smadey!" We have another thing coming...We give them the chance to nibble...they will soon bite big chunks out of our constitutional rights and freedoms. And based on the track record if this government, I boldly say, I TTRUST ABSOLUTELY NONE OF THEM! If you can sit around, eat, dine, lime and smile with wrong, for your own benefits or pride, as opposed to let your conscience be your guide...YOU ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED....one author in the book Education, writes, "The greatest want of the world is the want of men,--men who will not be bought or sold; men who in their inmost souls are true and honest; men who do not fear to call sin by its right name; men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole; men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall." (EG White - Education, p. 57.)

I admit to not knowing much about this situation, other than briefly skimming through a commentary written by Mr. James recently on Caribarena. What is rather surprising is that there are no "due process" rights accorded to individuals in Mr. James’ position. If he is in fact in contravention of some rule or statute that the AG feels prevents him from continuing to function as a notary public, then he (James) deserved some “notice” and reasonable explanation of the rational employed by the AG’s office. Then, he deserved a prompt hearing to address the matter. That's how things are normally done in countries with developed legal systems. But I guess in Antigua legal "professionals" act as arbitrarily and capriciously as they wish, respond to serious allegations if they wish, in their own time…..all without consequence. Must be nice to be king....
