Antigua St. John’s – High Court Registrar Charlesworth Tabor has ruled that the five members of the Pensioners Association who were dismissed several months ago should be reinstated.
The decision was made yesterday during a hearing of the legal challenge brought by former trustee Denfield Matthew who had challenged the legality of his expulsion from the association on June 1.
Association president Charles Eddie Hunte has said the expulsion was due to “unbecoming behaviour” which disrupted meetings.
The registrar said he would deliver his decision in writing. He dealt with the matter because the Pensioners Association falls under the Friendly Society’s Act which the registrar has responsibility for.
Attorney Maureen Hyman Payne who represented Matthew said she is very pleased that he and the others have been reinstated.
