Antigua St. John’s – The Government of Antigua & Barbuda and the Caribbean sub-regional Office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will consult with high-level regional government officials, civil-society organisations and regional partners to explore the most appropriate format for engaging in South-South cooperation in the region in the area of sexual violence prevention.
Addressing and preventing sexual violence has been identified as a critical step towards achieving gender equality in the region. By promoting South-South cooperation as an effective strategy for delivering technical assistance to address and prevent sexual violence and HIV, UNFPA projects that the capacities of governments and civil society organisations will be strengthened for more effective interventions.
The Directorate of Gender Affairs will serve as the coordinating and host agency to participants from Anguilla, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, with regional partners from UN Women and CARICOM/PANCAP.
