Antigua St. John's - An attempt by a 64-year old Browne’s Avenue man to take his own life was foiled by the quick action of good Samaritan who is now being credited with saving the man’s life.
Eye witnesses account say the man – a well-known motor vehicle body repair man, attempted to take his life when he tied a strap to a concrete wall in Radio Range, then tied the other end around his neck and then attempted to drive off in a motor car.
Police officers who later arrived on the scene said the velocity of the car moving forward would more than likely snap his neck and kill him in the process.
Caribarena.com learned that an eye witness noticed something odd happening and immediately called for help. A motor mechanic, Molwyn Pelle, was working on a vehicle nearby and rushed to the scene. His action is said to have saved his life. This happened around eight o’clock Saturday night.

Suicide
You people need to stop! Get off your knees, put your shoes on, put your work gloves on and start to DO.
Old folks used to say ' God help those who help themselves" so while you are waiting on God to help you, WHAT are you doing, about all the stuff for which you are praying.
These are the times when I understand what Karl Marx meant when he described religion as an Opiate, cause when you are "high" you don't function properly and our people are so "high" on prayer and God we sit down on our hands waiting......fo r what?
Just my opinion. Have fun with this one

Suicide
Does the current world wide economic issues and a plethora of other factors contribute to depression which leads to feelings of hopelessness, where the only option at times appear to be Death....
Some of us are fortunate to be around friends and relatives who see mental illness as that, an illness and not some sort of curse for which society wants to lock you up in a 'crazy house'.
I have just read some of the most, callous, unscionable statements...I am ashamed for those people. Thanks to those of you who at least showed some humanity and empathy for this man and his family

24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

Lets not put politics in this.
Our island needs deliverance from the evil that is among us.
Our ports of entry are all open and the demons have now arisen.
Antigua is a very open island and a lot of people are now practicing witchcraft and selling themselves to the devil for worldly gains.
We need to pray for this man and for all our family members...espec ially our small children.
ONLY GOD CAN HELP US NOW!!!!!

Disillusionment
There is an air of disillusionment floating around Our Nation and it's very disheartening.
A National prayer vigil for a month woul be a great thing, where all religious, civic, community groups etc can come together and of counseling and positive encouragememt.
