Earlier this year, I was on a boat trip from Antigua to St.Maarten. We were boarded in broad daylight (at anchor)( by their Coast Guard, automatic weapons and hand guns were close to fingers. They were very polite and thorough. Upon our return to Antigua, we were searched hi and low by Customs (no gins this time) so not sure what other "program" is required. Antigua has stepped up, of course it angers many who have been accustomed to free reign but you do get searched in both islands.

The arrested fisherman cum human trafficker is a BARBUDAN from the STATE of Antigua and Barbuda. Not that this makes it any easier to bear. It is always heartbreaking and so reminiscent of the not-too-distant past to hear of black people trafficking in humans...still. I hang my head in shame.

It is sad that this fisherman would use the newly purchased vessle to get involved in criminal activity, and, not ply his trade, honestly, in feeding a village! What would Mr. Pryce and other fishermen do in avoiding "future" incidents of human smuggling? And, what are the "authorities" doing to protect our waters from those who are not only fishing "illegally" but smuggling humans, drugs and guns? The fact of the matter is human smuggling in the region has been a problem for years, and, will only get "worse," unless the region gets assistance from the US, whom I believe "promised" in aiding us in this fight!

This arrest was done by St. Martin how have a real program not Antigua who have real fake program with lots of meeting policy making and big talk, a total waste.

Crime pays, even when you get caught. Attorney's, bailbond companies, doctors, the system, gun/weapons manufacturing companies, weapons dealers, and don't forget all those legal employees of these establishments. What would this world do without crime? Pushing up daisies?
