Baptiste Attends IICA Special Advisory Commission Meeting

Antigua St. John’s - Minister of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment, Hilson Baptiste is today attending the Special Advisory Commission on Management Issues (SACMI) meeting in San Jose, Costa Rica.

The SACMI conference is being held at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation Agriculture (IICA) headquarters, and the body is considered to be one of the most important management organs of the IICA.
 
The meeting is called to review and update the key financial management mechanism, currently employed within the institute. Also high on the agenda is the discussion of recent findings and proposed recommendations to chart the way forward.
 

Minister Baptiste has been selected to speak on behalf of the English speaking territories of the Caribbean.
 
While in Costa Rica the agriculture minister will also be engaged in a series of meetings pertaining to Antigua and Barbuda’s agricultural programmes.
 
The Special Advisory Commission on Management Issues is comprised of a select group of nine member-states drawn from IICA’s 34 members. They are Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Nicaragua, United States of America, Uruguay and Venezuela.
