Allen Stanford Sentencing Memorandum

Allen StanfordAntigua St John's - News broke recently that United States federal prosecutors have requested that R. Allen Stanford, recently convicted in a US$7 billion Ponzi scheme, be sentenced to the maximum 230 years in prison.

Caribarena has received the full text of the prosecution sentencing memorandum, which provides the rationale against which the US Justice Department is seeking to put R. Allen Stanford away for a very long time indeed, essentially the rest of his natural life.

In their statement the federal prosecutors describe Stanford in scathing terms, including such epithets as “ruthless predator”.

Prosecutors characterized the former international financier as “depraved”  and “brazen” in his conduct towards his many victims.

Caribarena is making efforts to secure the sentencing statement submitted by Stanford’s defense team, and will publish that document when we receive it.

In the meantime, the full text of the prosecution sentencing statement is attached below.

Read on to learn the full extent of R. Allen Stanford’s depredations, as perceived by the United States Department of Justice.

Stanford innocent!

The US just trying to beat up on Antigua people! They broke so many laws by confiscating property before Stanford was convicted! The SEC just trying to cover their huge boondoggle by not catching Bernie Madoof! They are going to throw away the key to look like they are doing something.

I don't believe them. I don't believe Stanford is guilty.

Good Job Bob - I see you're back to try to make some points on your favorite topic. One quick observation.... .you unnecessarily spent a lot of time on "the Google" only to find the same link that Caribarena so graciously already provided. What exactly wa** of your comment? Do you have a link to the defense's sentencing recommendations , or not? If you do, I suggest you provide it to Reuters, the NY Times, etc. I'm sure they'd be interested in seeing it. I have a feeling you're barking up the wrong tree....as usual.

I'm sure you're basing your conjecture on the fact that Sir Allen gave some documeted donations to US politicians. (Which Janvey is suing to recover.)

To put those donations in perspective: Sir Allen spent less on ALL US political contributions, from US President down to Memphis, TN dogcatcher, in both parties, than he did to stage a single cricket game in Antigua. Exactly how much influence do you think **ance buys you in the US???

On the other hand, there have so far been no release of the figures of Antigua's political contributions (or loans, or money that apparently vanished after the xxA expropriation.)

Why are Wide and **son so quiet about this? When will they sue to recover the money like Janvey has in the US?

From the start of the Stanford arrest saga, it has been very obvious that high ups in the US Government ' possibly on both sides want Stanford silenced. His treatment from the start was starkly different from that given to Madoff and it is painfully obvious that in his case the protectors had- or were given an agenda. It is a pity that he did not "spill the beans" at the very start as it is very doubtfull that he will be allowed to survive very long in prison!

"Caribarena ought to know that they, along with numerous other media entities, will not be able to publish the defense's sentencing recommendation (at least not at this time) since it was filed under seal."

Apparently, you just have to use the google:

Funny you should mention Madoff, since while the GOAB, Vantis and Wide and **son have been fighting the US receiver to take Sir Allen's stolen loot, Irving Picard has already recovered, through research, lawsuits and claw-backs, recovered over 75% of the original $70 billion thought to be missing.

Contrast this to SIB where no independent authority has been granted access to whatever records (may still) exist and the GOAB has actively xxxxxd investigation and allegedly expropriated assets. Less than 10% of SIB's deposits have been identified, and less than 5% recovered.

The bottom line is that with just one more discovery, claw-back or court win, SIB may SURPASS the scale of the Madoff fraud.

Spin Doctor - You are surely keeping up to your chosen name – you are nothing more than a SPIN DOCTOR. And you seem to have an axe to grind with Leroy King – For your information Leroy King is Lester Bird’s blue eye boy. It is Lester who gave him the head job at FSRC and supported him there.
Spencer has nothing to do with King’s extradition – King has moved his legal problem through the courts (which is his rights) and they are still in the courts – I believe Spin Doctor knows this very well – but of course he is full of the ALP “talking points” and propaganda.

Perhaps Mr Spencer can tell us WHY Leroy King has not been extradited, if he thinks the U.S. has forgotten about King's extradition he is sadly mistaken and the longer he pontificates about extraditing King the more the U.S. authorities are going to believe Spencer and his cohorts have something to hide.....which of course they do don't they Mr Caught!!

I guess you are probably busy at the moment thinking up excuses for the power plant which currently only has one of the six generators working, well good luck with that one. Your best hope would be a fire to destroy all the evidence, now that would be an interesting coincidence if it were to go up.

Alternatively you could always come clean, admit you bought used generators without parliamentary approval and in violation of Antiguan law and tell us who benefited financially from this behind the scenes purchase!

I hear they are keeping a couple of cells ready, one fro King and one for Caught

Prison is too good for that b****rd. Pity there is no death sentence for this type of crime, after all he has ruined the lives of 21,000 victims and caused several to take their own lives as a result of his actions. Hope Bubba makes Stanford his **!! ;-)

Caribarena ought to know that they, along with numerous other media entities, will not be able to publish the defense's sentencing recommendation (at least not at this time) since it was filed under seal. Based on the trial judge's prior rulings in favor of the prosecution, it does not look good for Mr. Stanford, however. When one takes into account that he continues to deny wrongdoing or show any "remorse" (which is very important for judges to see from criminal defendants prior to sentencing), I would speculate that he may very well get a longer sentence than the 150 years received by Bernie Madoff. At least, Mr. Madoff acknowledged his wrongdoings before the court and pled guilty.
