Antigua St John’s - Minister of National Security & Labour, Dr. L. Errol Cort set the pace by participating in an early morning fun walk to officially open his ministry’s Week of Activities on Saturday.

Nearly 200 employees attached to the Defence Force, Police Force, Immigration, Labour Department, Passport and Citizenship Department, Her Majesty’s Prison and the Ministry Headquarters completed the 5 am walk from Thames and Long Streets to Runaway Bay.
 
There they socialised over breakfast and games.
 
The week of activities, organised by the newly formed Sports and Social Club, continued yesterday with a church service at St. Andrews Anglican Church.

The congregation was treated to music by the Antigua & Barbuda Defence Force Band and members of the ministry, including Permanent Secretary Mrs. Sharon Peters, took part in the service.
 
During the course of the week ending June 16, finals for several inter-departmental sporting competitions such as cricket, basketball, football and netball will be played.
 
A Family Fun Day, to be held at the Police Recreation Grounds from 10 am on Saturday, will close the curtains on the activities.
 
Minister Cort expressed the hope that this week of activities and others to follow will foster a sense of togetherness and camaraderie among the many members and departments of his ministry.
