Antigua, St John’s -- Antigua & Barbuda is preparing to launch the Trafficking in Persons Prevention Committee later this month.
So said the Permanent Secretary (PS) within the Ministry of National Security and Labour, Sharon Peters, as she addressed the closing session of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) facilitated on Human Trafficking workshop on Thursday.
The PS predicted that that the first meeting of the Committee would most likely take place in July of this year, and that one of its functions would be to educate and inform the public on the forms, victims and effects of human trafficking.
She told participants of the recently concluded “Trainers Session: Sensitizing Peers about Human Trafficking” workshop that she and the soon-to be formed committee would be relying on their expertise in educating the public.
