Gifts

GiftsAntigua st. John's - Have you ever thought about the power of a gift? Many gifts are given in seasons such as Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries & special appreciation.

Whatever the occasion, it brings with it an air of excitement, especially when there is the element of surprise. Imagine going through a period of depression, or a season of thinking that nobody cares about you; nobody even appreciates all that you have done. Ever been there?

We all go through seasons of feeling unappreciated from time to time.

But, in the twinkling of an eye, your whole demeanor shifts, your countenance is enlightened and your heart pounds with anticipation as you walk into a room and hear, “Surprise!!!” A gift – maybe a few, is placed before you by well wishers; smiling, hugging, patting you on the back and even saying a few words of encouragement, or compliments.

In another dispensation of time the people of the Caribbean were slaves to ‘Massa’ but received the gift of liberation and learned how to enjoy the freedom of living without the crack of the whip upon their backs. A gift which brought liberation which produced the ability to learn how to read and produced doctors, lawyers, teachers and a people with academic qualifications for Universities all over the globe.

Somebody thought it fit to think of a way to give a people enslaved, a gift that brought about a revolution of life and new mind sets. Mind sets which finally brought about total independence.

Yes, that’s right! A gift of freedom can potentially shape, shift and even shake an entire nation. Our freedom from slavery, allowed us to recognize our strength collectively as a people and as individuals. When we look around us in this season, we become cognizant of the fact that, some of the Caribbean islands are celebrating their gift of independence from colonialism. That’s right – independence is a gift of freedom; a gift which brought transformation.

Consider if you will, what would happen if you walked into a prison, unlocked the door of a man incarcerated for ten years and say to him, “You are free to go.” Imagine being ship wrecked on an island for a year and suddenly, a helicopter lands and you hear the words, “We are here to take you home.” Now imagine the smile on a child’s face as he or she is handed a gift for no apparent reason other than to bring joy.

If we love others and enjoy doing something to transform lives, we would understand the value of giving to children at the Sunshine [rays, brightness, beams, light, glare, daylight] Home for Girls; Cottage of Hope [expect, anticipate, trust, wish, expectation, look forward to]; Project [scheme, plan, development, mission, venture, assignment] Hope; Amazing Grace [elegance, refinement, polish, beauty, poise, style, charm and the unmerited favor of God] and Mount [rise, increase, build] St. John’s Medical Centre - Institutions where gifts of life are imparted every day.

The packages that we bring are added gifts; tokens of enhancement; nuggets of hope and oil of encouragement to leave an imprint.

We, the representatives of Ayoushe, have a mandate to share our energy in giving of our service and boxes of food as gifts, to bring added rays of brightness, expectation, development, beauty and increase, as we join in transforming lives.

A gift has the potential to transform your life for today and at times the effect lasts forever. It can impact a life when it is given in a relevant season. A gift; just one gift can revolutionize the world!

The GIFT of giving! Everyone should trying it at least once in their lifetime, other than trying to find the negative in anything or anyone. That's why I rate Mr Ayoushe and his team. Always sharing, always giving, always helping. We should all take a page out of their book and learn from the positive things people do. Queen Ayoushe and Ms Ayoushe continue spreading the love, I love what you guys are doing and so does the children. Great job guys!

Keep up the Good Effort. You are showing your critics your true mettle.
I am reminded that during some of the debates surrounding the Hon Sen. Dr. Min of IT, John French pointing out that the people needed to understand the gift of love and of strange people living in this strange land. To know nothing of Arab Culture and the values associated with their names adn good deeds does not equip the people to understand how these starnge people can effectively enter a strange land where they are total strangers and in less than one generation dominate the economic and political landscape. Big up to Queen Ayoushe and Mr. Ayoushe and the rest of the team. We love what you are doing great job and thanks

Truly the efforts of ayoushe and Queens are to be appreciated by everyone, as it is rare for a business to give so much back to the community. I express my deep apprciation for a job well done in giving to these charitable organizations on a continuous basis. It proves that your motives are pure and your heart is in the right place.

Buddhism uses the Lotus flower at the core of its Faith because, this beautifull, tenacious, perfect flower, thrives in muddy waters, yet this same muddy water cannot harm it once established.
The Rastafarian Culture knows that once the seed of positive vibes has been planted within One's Soul, the Mind, Body, Spirit is free from enslavement.
All Faiths uses words to enlighten fheir faithfull, therefore there is most definitely truth in your commentary and only time will and can tell what your sense of purpose is. In the meantime, keep spreading the positive's of life. The negative has to follow because as I stated earlier, positive and negative must go together for power to exist. One is fodder for the other. Keep being that Lotus/Pond Flower...

Give it up for Ayoushe and his Queen's, the number one (#1) team for love, care and always giving back in way or another. All that you have been reading and seeing can be encompassed in this one word, 'Love" The question is, "How many of you are showing that you love anybody but yourself?" Stop player hating and do something positive to make a change, in life as I see Ayoushe and his Queen's have been doing for a long time neverless continue to give up to this date. lots of Love for Ayoushe, Queen ayoushe and both Ms Ayoushe's thank you all for a job well done

My grandmother always said that empty vessels make the most noise. It is only shallow and petty people who choose to look for occasion to criticize instead of giving a complement. On that note, Queen's of Ayoushe, job well done...an act of kindness is irrevocable and a life touched will always cherish the moments often for as long as they live. I will keep your articles to remind me of the positive difference I can make in someone else's life.

I have once heard it said that a man has to be in possession of something, before he has the ability to impart it to others. In my humble opinion, Queen Ayoushe and Ms Ayoushe have imparted there love, care and concerns of others less fortunate. they have awakened my passion and stirred my heart to look at my Antigua in another light. I do hope that they continue what they are doing.. Ladies or should I say Queens's of Ayoushe you andyour sponsor and from the things I have heard about you, I know that you will continue what you have started in reaching out to these charities. Your heart is seen in what you are doing and like it is said, "You must be in possession in order to impart to others" So to Queen's of Ayoushe, you are queen's in your own right. Big Up!!!

@ Skyewill - Towards the BRICS Revolution!

#19 John French II » 2012-11-03 23:31

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock! "Change is not about Changing Personalities, it is about Changing our Politics." - BHO 2012
We as a people must "look to questions of location, control of the hegemonic economy, marginalization and power positions as keys to understand the underdevelopmen t" of our people as noted by Dr. Molefi Asante.
Last year, South Africa joined BRIC, the economic coalition of Brazil, Russia, India & China. The name has now been changed to the BRICS.
Prior to that move, this mere voce in the wilderness, had suggested that through Caribbean Airlines & LIAT, Caricom & the OECS should be flying in the direction of Africa & Brazil (2014 & 2016 beckons) with alliances to China & India. Many of our compatriots will say that Our Relations with the North Atlantics are solid which no one will deny but some of us will say that just as a chick Living in the IMF's NEST at some point you must leave the coop, as said by Frantz Fanon "Leave this Europe Behind", and seek new markets & alliances before we are overwhelmed by another one entity like The PRoC.
Go Well! Much Respect!

Notes From A Native Son OfThe Rock! You are Correct. Any Others who have other Personalities & Events should lend their keyboard to educating our Youth. My intent was to: show that the Press Release due to its lack of Historical Marking in Space & Time coupled with constructural adjustments of deracination, decenteredness and lack of agency was damaging the Ayoushe Brand which the Proprietor had built as a Good Charitable & Caring Corporate Citizen. I placed no blame at anyone's Cranium but on a neglected education of our people. Ending at events in Space and Time with The Apprenticeship was my way of posing the question of the Gift of Industrializati on & Entrepreneurshi p to the People of African Descent in Antigua & Barbuda.

The fight for freedom did not end with the brutal murder of King Court and the group of 87. The baton was passed to another group of men, who vigorously fought to end servitude and massa oppression that continued even after Emancipation was declared. Noble men like James Drew, Steven Newton Payne, Alvin Tanner, David Simon, Renford Payne, Ali Thomas, Keko Frederick, Harold Carter, Novell Williams, Wills Emanuel, Kervin Samuel, Jesse Silcott and Charles Williams were committed to do whatever was morally justifiable to end colonial exploitation and its evil appendages. Notes From A Native SonOf The Rock! Notwithstanding a TnT reluctance, it is of import to invoke her favourite sons: Quote:
The history of the West Indies is governed by 2 factors, sugar plantations & Negro Slavery - CLR James
and, Quote:
The whole history of political struggle in the british West Indies has been a struggle to achieve the parliamentary institutions and practices which were limited on purely racial grounds to white people. - Eric Williams, at the University of Dakar, Senegal 1964.
Emancipation 1834 was not a gift, Our Forefathers struggled for it. Lest We Forget! The Apprenticeship System. The Antiguan Planters legislated against it in 1834. Historians to this day say it was a factor in our Industrial underdevelopment. Quote:
A man walks down the street It's a street in a strange world Maybe it's the Third World Maybe it's his first time around
He doesn't speak the language He holds no currency He is a foreign man
He is surrounded by the sound The sound Cattle in the marketplace
Scatterlings and orphanages He looks around, around He sees angels in the architecture Spinning in infinity He says Amen and Hallelujah!

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock! 1729 saw a small Slave uprising at Coconut Hall an estate belonging to Nathaniel Crump. Ask the Boundaries Commissioner of his family. He is reportedly the 81st. Hercules was hung, drawn & quartered,& Hannibal was burned. What's in a name?
"The events of the year 1736 were such as to strike horror into the hearts of all the white inhabitants of Antigua. Quote:
We are in a great deal of trouble in this island; the burning of Negroes, hanging them up on gibbets alive, racking them upon the wheel, etc., takes up all of our time; that from the 20th of October to this day, there have been destroyed sixty-one intelligent negroes, most of them tradesmen, as carpenters, coopers and masons. Walter Tullideph, in a letter to his brother, 15 January 1737.
Such was the Fate of our First National Hero, Prince Klass, the Akan, 'Crown'd King of the Coromantees' and his "Comrades".
Throughout his speeches and writings Sir VC invokes the German word Herrenv olk. Our Students would be well advised that VC uses this to show that the thought of the colonizer has no emphaty or basis for equality.

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock! As an innocent lad reading of the Maroons in Jamaica, I was intrigued as to who were these people. Sadly in Antigua, we are not taught of our very own Maroon Habitats in the Shekerley Mountains. Many Africans took advantage of the Carib Wars, ran away with them to Dominica & Guadeloupe or to the Hills in the South of The Rock! In 1687 the planters launched an attack against the Maroons, a few were killed but none captured. This was the end of large Maroon Colonies and they lived as very small, loose and nimble guerilla communities in the hills. Pay Attention to the development realized in that area since then. I would be remiss not to mention that the Moravians arrived fifty years after the "Cutlass Chopping Up" of Major Samuel Martin. History Informs.
Every Child knows what a Gift is if not they need to be taught this: Quote:
Slavery is among us not of choice but of necessity, and unless (as it is not to be imagined) our mother country should quit the trade of the sugar-colonies, Englishmen must continue to be masters of their slaves. Governor William Mathew 1736.
Britons Never will be Slaves

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock! We definitely need Shots of Redemption. Our Forefathers were in no mood for gifts from Major Samuel Martin that Christmas Day. Most of these Africans knew nothing of Christmas Gifts. They were not Christians. Some may have been Animists, Yorubas, Akan - Fanti, Ashanti but most would have been Muslimeen. Every so often Skye reminds: Quote:
A man walks down the street He says why am I short of attention Got a short little span of attention And wo my nights are so long Where's my wife and family What if I die here Who'll be my role-model
Now that my role-model is Gone Gone He ducked back down the alley
With some roly-poly little bat-faced girl All along along There were incidents and accidents There were hints and allegations
Every Antiguan must be intrigued as they learn of Craib raiders making off with Governor Edward Warner's Family in 1640 through Willoughby Bay. These raids and battles with Caribs continued throughout the 17th Century. Thomas 'Indian' Warner son of Governor Warner & a Carib woman led the 1675 Massacre of Dominica but met his end at the hand of his half brother.

Did this article states who gave "the gift?"
Could "the Gift" have been a "VISION," a rebirth of 'Moses & the Pharaohs," Christ and the Romans?
What stories will be told 300 years from now, when it is written 'TODAY,' that many decendants of Alkebulans/Afri cans worshiped the Egyptian Pharaohs, the Roman Gods/Godesses, the Greek Gods/Godesses, the Asian Buddhas?
What will they reason on or about 200 years from now, as the truth will show, that the Black Holocaust of the late 1980's to 2012 was a physical Black on Black Genocide?
More black men die in the cities of Modern Industrialized Nations than on any battlefield or sanctioned war zone. Where are Our lazer pointers on these issues?

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock. What is the origin of Mourrad? It can be said to be a derivative of Persian & Hindustani and Wiki suggests a meaning of "fulfilment of a vow vowed". That This Enterprise is driven by Social Marketing cannot be denied. Ayoushe's actions bear witness to that end.
Given our history & cultural socialization, names were of no formative thinking to us. One of The most popular Antigua surnames is Martin. Major Samuel Martin owned Green Castle Plantation. At that period there existed a law forbidding "Carnall Coppullation" between European & African which he & his descendents totally ignored. Martin was hacked to death in pieces on Christmas Day 1701. His family was not harmed. Africans: he was killed because of the manner he treated his female slaves many of whom bore him children. Europeans: he was killed because he refused to give his slave a Christmas Holiday. Pay Attention to the year. Codrington was cerebral: "I am afraid he was guilty of some unusual act of Severity or rather some indignity towards them." Growing up in the 50's I knew you did not mess with any Martin as they would join forces related or not.

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock! Knowing The History of A People is critical to Understanding their PoliticaL Socio-economic & Cultural proclivities, congenital idiosyncrasies and constitution. Many are familiar with the words in the Good Book: "And she gave birth to a son, and Moses named him Gershom, for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land." Futher we are reminded that "The Land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you are but aliens and my tenants." To those who are driven by FDI & CIP words of wisdom from the Good Book!
Many moons ago in response to actions by the Good Hon Min of IT, this mere voice in the wilderness suggested that inorder to understand these strangers amongst us, it is necessary to understand from whence they came and to pay attention to names. Ayoushe is of Indian origin and means Long Life. Marketing. Sadly because our names mean nothing to us since our lineage has been severed, we pay absolutely no attention to names which are powerful motivators and attitudinal developers of character. The nick names given to many an Antiguan are much more descriptive of our behavioural patterns.

Were Alkebulans/Afri cans 'Slave Owners' as well?
Are Arabs still Slave Masters in Africa today?
Were Alkebulans/Afri cans traded/sold by other's of the same 'hue?'
Is Ethnic Cleansing still occurring in Africa today? Example Nigeria, the Congo, Ethiopia etc.
The American Slave System, was it different than that of the West Indies?
Why did "Blacks" in America saw it fit, to own 'black slaves' themselves?
In regards to America, is it a fact or fallacy, that the first Africa Slave owner was an African who was freed after he had finish his indenturship?

Full disclosure: Do not know Mourrad Ayoushe; given the racial animus in TnT this commenter has tended to give conversations on TnT and its socio economic and political climate a wide berth. Not so with my Native Land where mi nabel string bury.
That this article is a Press Release suggests Intent. Marketing. Without questioning other inclinations, Marketing is Relationship Building which this Enterprise has done a remarkable job of on the Rock. Whoever created this Press Release, was uninformed and resultantly damaged the Social Responsible Marketing which the Ayoushe Brand has endeavoured to develop and manage as its marketing strategy & plan.

You know that EPA thing they are all rushiing to sign this to me even if it comes with some hand outs will do us no good. I would love to see Caricom join forces with Africa and form our own economic block. Europe is sinking and Africa is raising and looking at the mistakes of Europe and learning from it. Imagine!

Oh thank you master for freeing me. I wouldn't know what I wouild do with you...LARD HAVE MERCY!!!&! Ladies and Gentlemen from television city in Hollywood, intorducing the reciepient of this weeks DUCT TAPE award. Black people was not freed. We fort and died. If those people could still be doing it today they would. More wealth have been created in the past ten years than any other period PUT TOGETHER in the hardest time ever in a time when more people are becoming poorer. Try taking it back then if you think its a gift. Keep the gift, I'll get my own..thanks no!

I disliked the example using slavery. We were never given freedom, it was fought for. To say it was given is to ignore the rebellions. I also don't like the idea of using a holocaust (over 10 millions Africans were killed, some historians estimate it as high as 75 million) as a way of promoting the sale of trinkets
