The Ministry of Social Transformation Thursday launched the second annual Homes, Families & Gardens Festival 2009 Competition.
The theme this year is, "Think Beautification for the Nation’s Health & Wealth." Residents will compete for prizes for having the best flower and vegetable gardens.
"Catch the Passion" was the phrase echoed at the Ministry of Social Transformation as they launched the beautification project.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Social Transformation and Consumer Affairs Beulah-Mae Charles said she is very proud that the beautification project is back after a break. She said organisers are looking forward to a success programme.
“We are ready to go, and I am just encouraging all the past participants to come forward once again and participate in a worthwhile programme that will bring benefit to all,” she said.
Minister of Social Transformation Wilmoth Daniel said the programme is a wise, well thought out and planned initiative. He congratulated members of the Community Division for the hard work they put in.
