It started with a scuba mask. But instead of being buried in sand or salt, this one was made from sugary goodness. This scuba mask was actually a cake, and the birthday party, her daughter's first, was the springboard for Erin Fuller's dive into an array of creative cake designs.
You may remember her from a little store tucked into Redcliffe Quay where she initially offered children's clothing. But after the birth of her second daughter, Fuller was ready for something closer to home.
About two-and-a-half years ago, her husband David suggested she turn her love for baking into a business. Although she admits she was a bit skeptical, she took the plunge.
Actually, it was easy to follow her sweet tooth to success. She started off by placing a few cakes in Woods Pharmacy, and became the mother known at her kids' school for baking up adorable cupcakes and other irresistible goodies.
With Food Network as her classroom, and a mind full of ideas, the first months were filled with experiments that Fuller's two young daughters were happy to taste-test.
They're also the critics when it comes to assessing how accurate Fuller makes the likenesses of popular animated characters.
The requests have grown increasingly challenging, but she's managed to pull off everything from sitting bunnies to a Mount Gay rum bottle atop a cake-shaped barrel with edible sugar cane.
She doesn't create from molds, but prefers to shape each project through cutting, rolling, and crafting.
Her confidence in her recipes and her decorating skills has led to as many as 14 cakes being delivered over one weekend.
