The National Culinary Team preparing to head to Puerto Rico for the Taste of the Caribbean Culinary Competition has been outfitted through a donation from Chef's World.
Owner Julian Waterer, who earned a bronze medal when he participated in the competition with Team Antigua & Barbuda about 12 years ago, donated jackets, aprons, and hats to this year's hopefuls.
Team Manager Andrew “Stan” Baxter, who received the donations, noted, “We have a very strong team going to the Taste of the Caribbean Competition this year. This is a very prestigious event, which is going to see 11 nations vying for the different Caribbean titles. These uniforms are going to make the team and the country proud and look presentable and smart." Baxter is the executive chef at Galley Bay.
The competition takes place at the Rio Mar Resort in Puerto Rico from September 9-12.
It is organised by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourist Association (CHTA), and is also geared toward the promotion of camaraderie and educational opportunities among food and beverage professionals.
