Sports Day All About The Fashions

Sports Day FashionsSports Day was the hot topic for students over the past week, but while some were anxious to participate in actual sporting activities, others were busy planning their outfits and getting all hot and bothered about what matched with what, and what didn't.

The popular sports day fashion trends this season were jumpers, short pleated skirts, bubble skirts, and suspenders, while Sponge Bob and Dora prints were in full swing in some of the outfits, which created quite a buzz.

Apple Bottom and Pastry footwear were among the pricey choices, while others opted for the "Chiney Man" shoes with either knee high, thigh high or fishnet stockings or multi-coloured socks.

Oh the hairstyles were "rocking," as students sported house colours in ribbons, bows, strings and glitter. Some even had hair weaves attached in their respective colours.Sports Day Fashions

I caught up with a sports-day crew from Christ the King who were looking real cute in short little dresses in different colours of the same style, set off by matching neck ties.

Rocquelle said, “I love Sports Day. Not so much the sports part of it, although I give a good competition where running is concerned. What I love more about it is to dress up in the colours of my house and really represent. Also, our group is in our final year of school and we really wanted to wear something special, so years after we will look back on the photos with a smile and can show our children what we did.”

Valique added, “I just got my blue Apple Bottom sneakers this week to complete my outfit. I’m so excited."

Some people thought some of the students were going overboard, diluting the real purpose of the activity.

However, their views didn’t seem to discourage the Sports Day fashion clubs, as they seem to get more and more extreme as each Sports Day rolls around.

None of these outfits are appropriate for school functions. They look more like they're going to club than to a school event.

Just imagine what Sports Day have come to. In my days we did have cheer leaders which i was a part of but we had to dress modest. No belly out etc. Its more about fashion than Sports. That surely don't look good for the future because you gonna have less students participating in Sports and clinging to more of the dressing aspect of the Day.

Since when students can go to school with 'belly-out'. Sports day is a school function. There's nothing wrong with the fashion. I find it quite creative and entertaining - esp the cheerleading. The children are having fun. Lets keep it modest though.
