A touch of style and fashion from the 1960’s and 70’s was definitely in the house as the Antigua Jaycees hosted its first fundraiser "with a difference”.
The dance, dubbed “A blast from the past into the future,” rocked The Sticky Wicket as Afros, wigs, bell bottoms and polyester moved across the dance floor to the sounds of yesteryear. It was Soul Train all over again.
Trousers and trouser suits were serious fashions in the 70's, and a few of them were spotted, rousing memories of an era long forgotten.
A very excited JCI Senator Leandra James said “this was the first time we have done something like this and the reviews were exceptio
nally great.
Everyone enjoyed themselves, from the futuristic modern dance floor upstairs to the ground floor where the oldies - you know the disco tunes and old time reggae - were rocking."
There was a mix of young and mature faces on the first floor enjoying the "oldies". No one left empty-handed, as souvenirs were shared and there was a prize draw.
James was impressed by the costumes and noted, "There was even a young woman there sporting a Lady Gaga costume. The most popular hairstyle was the Afro, of course, with the then famous Afro-pick."
