Independence Fashion Show This Weekend

Top local fashion will be on display this weekend at the Multipurpose Cultural Centre, alongside the work of prominent Vincentian designer Kimone Baptiste.
The Independence event, endorsed by the Ministry of Culture, will see the designers competing to produce the best interpretation of “Go Green”.
Chairperson of the Homecoming Fashion Extravaganza Vanda Neale-Gardener has been harnessing the talent of budding designers in an effort to boost not only cultural appreciation, but promote viable trade in nontraditional economic practice.
She and her committee - Bernard Francis, Brian Gardner, Terri-Anne “T-Rocka” Richardson, Sharon Herbert, Ashley D Edwards, Rickenson “Jeffery” Ettienne, and Althea Richardson-Walter have commissioned the services of renowned regional production designer Richard Young, the director of both Guyana Fashion Weekend and Fashion Week Trinidad and Tobago.
"He is on a mission of acknowledging/heralding Caribbean style and presenting it to the world," a release said. "His commitment has serviced youth empowerment initiatives throughout the region as well as endorsed ethical practice in the fashion industry while integrating biodiversity programs into the cultural landscape."
The show takes place on October 24 at 7:30 pm.
