Antigua St John's - The St John Ambulance Association of Antigua and Barbuda, in addition to its ongoing disaster preparedness, basic life support, and First Aid training courses, is striving to raise awareness of how people and communities in Antigua can help themselves in times of accident and emergency.
As a first step, we will be running a series of videos from St John Ambulance England which give advice and help on how to deal with particular incidents. From time to time, the videos may make reference to help lines.
These are of course only relevant in the UK, and should be disregarded. We will cover a wide range of subjects, from simple illnesses to major incidents, along with road awareness and how to react to an emergency vehicle.
Caribarena is supporting us in this initiative, and we extend our sincere thanks and kudos.
In this first clip, we look at how to deal with a child who has ingested a poison or chemical. All household products are dangerous for little ones (and adults in fact) and should always be kept out of their reach.
Household chemicals should always be kept in their original bottles, ideally in a high cupboard and not under the kitchen sink - which is where most of us do keep them.
If there are any particular subjects people want to know about, they can contact us through Facebook (St John Ambulance, Antigua and Barbuda), by email
