Teachers Certified as First Aid Instructors

Teachers Certified as First Aid InstructorsAntigua, St. Johns' - More than a dozen Physical Education teachers were this week issued with certificates to train others in first aid.

The document was handed over to the 14 teachers following an three-day instructor's course administered by the Antigua & Barbuda Red Cross Society at the headquarters of the organisation.

"The Antigua & Barbuda Red Cross had trained them already in first aid at their request so they could be efficient in the field dealing with children," said Red Cross President Gerald Price, who facilitated the course.

"They wanted to go a step forward. These instructors will go out to teach first aid  and CPR so they can teach others."

He explained that the certificates issued to the new instructors are valued for 2-3 years. However, if they do not teach the course within the year the document becomes invalid and the individuals will have to retake the course.
