FirstCaribbean Initiates Walk for Cure

Walk for CureAntigua St. John’s - Staff at CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank joined family members, friends and members of the Breast Friends Organisation in an inaugural “Walk for a Cure” last Saturday.

The 6:15 am walk from the bank’s Old Parham Road branch to its branch on High Street was held o raise awareness to cancer.

On concluding the walk, participants performed a number of healthy cool down routines such as the Electric and Cha Cha Cha Slide.

The bank’s Country Manager, Michael Spencer thanked everyone especially his staff and members of Breast Friends for their participation in this effort to raise the awareness of cancer in the country. He pointed out that this initiative by CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank was undertaken at this time to coincide with the bank’s 10th Anniversary. He appealed to everyone to get involved in some way to raise the awareness of this deadly disease.

CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank’s staff around the Caribbean were all involved in similar activities this weekend.

Breast Friends president Mrs. Eunetta Bird said: “I must say a resounding Congratulations to the management and staff of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank, on this your 10th anniversary and we pray God’s blessing on the prosperity of the bank and for the continued good relationship that the bank has fostered with the community.

“I must also express heartfelt thanks to the organising committee for this walk today in recognition of the many men, women and children in this country who are battling the awful, dreaded disease called cancer. Even though we do not know how to prevent or cure breast cancer or other types of cancer, we do know how to fight it. We fight it with early detection and early treatment because there is hope in the face of cancer, there is life after diagnosis.”

The final address was by Michelle Lynch, a cancer survivor, who shared her experience as a survivor.
The event ended with breakfast hosted by the bank.
