Friends of Hospital Hold AGM

Friends of Hospital Hold AGMAntigua St. John's - The Friends of Mount St John Medical Center recently held its annual general meeting, where the annual president’s report and annual financial reports were presented.

Annual elections were also held, and the newly appointed committee was elected as follows:

President – Dwayna Derrick
Vice President – Giselle Maginley
Treasurer – Veronica Gomes
Assistant Treasurer – Cherene Bird
Secretary – Evon Challenger
Assistant Secretary – Nicole Mykoo
Public Relations Officer – Sally Davis-Meyer

In a release, the Committee noted that its projects last year initially raised funds for a Vascular Ultrasound Machine, but when it was decided that an ultrasound machine would be more beneficial to a wider scope of patients, efforts were shifted toward the purchase of this equipment.

The fundraisers were quite successful, but the equipment is very costly. The Friends have since partnered with the Rotary Club of Antigua, who will help with finalizing the purchase. The equipment should arrive in Antigua in April.

This year, the Friends will present “Antigua’s Got Talent” on March 16 at Sandals Grande Resort. This will showcase the Cutting Edge Band and several Antiguan artistes for an evening of cocktails, entertainment, and dancing.

The group said, “This year we are committed to raising funds towards the purchase of an oxygen storage tank for the MSJMC. We look forward to your continued support in this new project.

Friends of Mount St. John Medical is a volunteer group which seeks to assisting with the provision of excellent care by providing assistance towards areas identified as being needy, whether in the form of equipment, supplies, or education.

The release said, “As we begin a new year, we continue to rely on our friends in the public and private sector to provide support as we continue to work together. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed in any way to this cause. We never know when illness will strike and medical assistance will be a lifeline to any one of us.”
