Antigua St. John's - The Antigua Planned Parenthood Association, in collaboration with Population Services International and the Society for Family Health, will be hosting a Launch and Open Day for the general public on Friday 26th October 2012.
The Association will be launching a social commodity to the general public, who will have access to HIV Testing, Blood Sugar and Blood Pressure Testing.
Testing will be done in collaboration with social partners such as the National Aids Programme, the Directorate of Gender Affairs and the HIV/Alliance.
The Antigua Planned Parenthood Association commenced operations in Antigua & Barbuda as a not-for-profit association in the year 1970, and has been offering services to society in an effort to improve the quality of life and health for the people within the twin island state.
The Association offers its services to the general public in a user friendly environment.
APPA also operates as the in-country office for Population Services International - Caribbean, and the Society for Family Health, who offer services to various target populations through their Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) team members and Society For Family Health Agents by way of the “GOT IT? GET IT!” campaign.
PSI-C & SFH, who have been operating within the twin island state since 2005, focus on providing information to target populations for the purpose of empowerment and sensitization on issues of HIV and AIDS, other Sexual Transmitted Infections, reproductive health, and other social issues. The organisations also promote the sale of condoms at non-traditional outlets through private sector collaboration.
The Launch with provide individuals with the opportunity to receive information on their health, and on the social product known as “COOL”. It will be held at the Association’s office on Bishopsgate Street on Friday 26th October from 11am. The general public is invited.
