Summertime tends to trigger a weight loss frenzy for those who want to lose some extra pounds. Some want to look good in their costumes at carnival time, while others realize that they will be going to the beach more frequently and will be donning a bathing suit. It’s also midway through the year and there is the realization that you may not have met your New Year’s resolution and can’t yet fit into that outfit you’ve been eyeing for some time.
Weight loss options are either a workout regiment or a diet. It’s always interesting to hear the different opinions and dieting tips from other people. I’ve informally asked what works and what doesn’t. I’m not a medical doctor or a dietician, but below is the feedback I’ve received on some diets. Please note, it is best to consult a doctor or nutritionist before undertaking any drastic changes in your diet.

The Master Cleanse
This purging type diet lasts for 10 days and requires you to drink a salt water mixture in the morning and then a mixture consisting of cayenne pepper, lemon juice and maple syrup for the rest of the day. It is reported to have great results; however, the weight returns very rapidly. Other similar liquid diets tend to have similar results.
The Special K diet
This popular diet requires the dieter to replace two normal meals with Special K breakfast cereal. Unfortunately, due to the high cost of this pricey cereal in Antigua, it can be difficult for some people. It promises that in two weeks you will see a reduction in your waistline. I tried it and it worked but unless you remain disciplined, the weight comes back.

The No Carb diet
This famous diet asks people to simply cut out carbohydrates completely (rice, pasta, bread etc). Users notice the difference in the waistline but many have a hard time sticking with it.
Smaller Portions

The people with the best weight loss results achieve it by having smaller portions of food. It is recommended that cutting back on the size portions and increasing fruit and vegetable intake, coupled with exercise will have the best long-term results. Most importantly, users of this type of diet are satisfied and not miserable because they are hungry.
