Snail Sightings Should be Reported

The Giant African Land Snail Antigua St John's - The Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment is reminding the public to immediately report any sightings of the Giant African Land Snail (Achatina Fulica), a pest of quarantine significance, to the Plant Protection Unit.

Further, the public was asked to note that several areas are being monitored for Giant African Land Snail.

These areas are considered to be of high risk, they include the Bolans – Jolly Hill, Burma, Cooks, St John's, and a one-mile radius of these locations.

Due to the nature of the snail, members of the public were asked to be vigilant and report any sightings of the invasive pest.

Sightings could be reported to 562-1923 or 460-7278.
