NODS Congratulates Two Schools

EvacuationAntigua St John's - The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) recognised the TN Kirnon Primary School and the School for the Deaf on Thursday for their proactive disaster management programme.

Director Philmore Mullin presented a plaque to Principal Rolston Nickeo on International Day for Disaster Reduction, recognised under the theme, “Making youth partners for disaster risk reduction”.

Mullin said NODS has been monitoring the institutions since a workshop in 2007 with teachers at public and private institution, and was impressed with efforts so far.

Both schools have been working together, and have a disaster plan in place, an evacuation process, and a disaster preparedness committee, chaired by Vernon Parillon, one of the teachers at TN Kirnon.
