NODS Staffers to Get Training

Myron Ward and Naomi Williams-CarvalhoAntigua and Barbuda is capitalising on an opportunity to help communities develop effective disaster preparedness programmes.

Two staff members from the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) will attend a workshop organised by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) this month which aims to develop a cadre of trainers who would deliver community preparedness programmes across the region.

The workshop, slated for February 11 – 13 in St Kitts, will be attended by Myron Ward and Naomi Williams-Carvalho.

CDEMA is undertaking the development of a Model Community Preparedness Programme Toolkit for its participating states which will contain the tools needed to assist communities.

The meeting will also orient participants to the updated CDEMA Community Preparedness Programmes Facilitators Manual and Participant Handbook, evaluate them, and make recommendations for any changes.
