PM Supports The Need For Sustainable Housing

Mr PM, have you or your housing minister checked your track record lately? How many housing projects have you brought to this country over the last couple of years under the guise of low income housing? You borrow foreign government money and you import foreign labour to construct local housing and the houses are too expensive to be classified as low income houses. The only time you remember local people is when you want more money. What happen to local contracters? Don't you think that locals are good enough for nation building? I am quite sure that local contracters would've been more than willing to enter into a joint partnership with government to build low income housing for our people. It would have created jobs for our citizens, the money would help to stimulate our economy which would have had tremendous benefits to all of us in Antigua, Government included. All that would have been needed is proper checks and balances and also qualified construction engineers to insure that we get value for money. We need a government that genuinely cares about its people. By the actions of your UPP Government Mr Spencer, You are definitely not that person. Time to leave office.

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock. The Good Hon. Dr. PM's statements and aspirations are laudable. He has issued the GoAB's Policy Directions.
Where are the Bureaucrats and Technocrats in the various responsible Ministries. Not a Peep from Them in the last eight years.
Where is the DCA? Where are the Architects & Engineers Societies? We hnow where the developers/cont ractors are - going about their business without let or hindrance from GoAB or its Regulatory Bodies. Bring on any technology, Build it and the Buyers will come.
Several years past, during a hurricane, a new housing development, by developers/cont ractors from the southern Caribbean, in the north of the island suffered catastrophic failures from the swirling cyclonic winds. Nothing Learned. No Structural Engineering Codes/Regulatio ns Resultant Revisions.
A picture is worth a thousand words if everything is visible. Composite Aesthetic & Pricing Beauty versus Architectural, Structural, Seismic & Hurricane Codes & Regulations. Caveat Emptor. Where are the DCA, Architects & Engineers of Antigua & Barbuda? Why are these Developers given freedom to do as they please?
Have Mercy Pon Us.

So while the people of this kunchee are suffering, all the housing minister can do is eat, eat, eat, and eat??? What kinda thing is that? He knows which hand to hold the knife in? So the PM and Brother needed a big dinner to agree that sustainable housing is needed? Plz invite me next time when you decide that the people need jobs. I would like to eat to that. :-|

There are three or four of these so called housing project going on from time to time and up to this moment none of these projectshas come to a successfull completion, so why would anyone in their right mind would want to embark on another such exercise, would'nt it make more sense to complete whats in the pipeline before starting something new common sense should dictate that.

Are there any current occupants in the houses at the North Sound Housing Project? Caribarena you will have to find out some way other than contacting Hilson Baptiste. Remember the "nice" words he gave you the last time you asked for an update? :D
