Nazarene Group Prepares for Power Struggle

Antigua St John's - The Nazarene Drama Team is preparing to present another theatrical play, entitled "Power Struggle," on June 25 and 26.

The dramatic presentation, written by Collin Jno-Finn, tells the fictional story of Bernie DeCastro’s obsession and determination to obtain power and leadership of the church that her father founded several years ago. 

According to a press release from the group, "Power Struggle" earned Jno-Finn an A in his playwriting course at Grambling State University, where he is presently enrolled in the field of Mass Communication and Theatre Arts. 

According to Jno-Finn, while the play has a church setting, it is applicable to any group or organisation operated on the democratic basis of one man, one vote. “I am confident that the message of greed, honesty, and being true to oneself and God will be received by the audience, who has supported all our productions over the years," he said.

Jno-Finn said he is proud of the entire group’s accomplishments over the last three years, and believes this is primarily due to the support of longstanding business partners, along with the dedication of the members.

While the church is used as the setting, the language used will give direct reference to the modus operandi of a group of leaders, which the audience will have to decipher on their own.

The Nazarene Drama Team is well known for its previous drama entitled "Nine to Five," based on employment woes. The group has also presented "On the Block" and "It's Too Late".

The NDT is a youth ministry of the Beacon Light Church of the Nazarene, and seeks to provide an avenue for artistic expression, but primarily incorporates exemplary lifestyles and the message of salvation to its members.
