Antigua St John's - Poetry In the Pub will end 2011 with a bang. The last session of the year will be held on Tuesday December 13, and will feature the short film "Dinner".
Recently screened at last month’s inaugural Antigua & Barbuda Film Festival, and the Jamaica Reggae Film Festival in late May, "Dinner" is the screen adaptation of the Tameka Jarvis-George poem by the same name.
Produced by Cinque Productions, "Dinner" captures the sights, sounds, and taste of Antigua mixed with tantalizing sensual lyrics and the mutual passion shared between a loving couple.
Jarvis, 34 and married with two children, works in architecture and shipping. She published her first novel, Unexpected, in 2010 and has also published Thoughts from the Pharcyd in 1999, and I Am I Am that I Am in 2002, by Watermark Press in Washington DC (the result of winning a publishing contract through a poetry competition). She is writing her second novel.
Poetry on Screen will begin at 8 pm at the Heavenly Java 2 Go, on the boardwalk of Redcliffe Quay.
"Dinner" will be shown at 8:15 pm, followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker herself. Expressions' poets will step to the mic in their true creative form, backed by resident keyboardist Kimdale Mackellar.
