Antigua St. John's - Calypso icon, Sir Rupert King Swallow Philo has been presented with another major award in Trinidad for his outstanding contributions to calypso and soca over the past fifty years.
Swallow, who was recently in Trinidad for a series of performances, was presented with the National Action Cultural Committee’s award for being among the top 20 Calypso Stars of Gold at the ceremony held in Port of Spain at the end of December.
He said he was treated like royalty during the presentation ceremony and that he received a tremendous standing ovation when he was called on stage to receive the award. “It was a proud moment for me accepting the award and I did so not just for myself, but for the people of Antigua and Barbuda,” he stated.

You 'Mos def' deserve it...
Several years ago, after the screening of HAMA's second movie, I turned to a friend and said, "we need to establish a Hall of Fame for the Arts in Our Nation." He looked at me and said, " we don't have enough, artist to induct."
I totally disagree. We have a wonderful legacy in the Arts at home and abroad, that others have recognized, and We MUST too
