ABDF Band Receives new Musical Instruments

Antigua St. John's - The Antigua Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) Band is the recipient of brand new musical instruments, a timely gift from the Military Band of the Peoples Liberation Army of China.

At a signing ceremony recently, between the Chief of Defence Staff – Colonel Sir Trevor A. Thomas, KCN, CMG, MBE, Plsc and Band Director of the Peoples Liberation Army of China – Zhang Haifeng, at Camp Blizzard, Colonel Thomas expressed his sincere appreciation for the wonderful musical gift.

He noted that the gift will no doubt enable the ABDF Band to grow since at present most of the instruments being used are personally owned by band members. He further stated that the gift was also far reaching; since it will allow more members of the Cadet Corps, who are interested in music, to join the ABDF Band.
 
The timely donation came at the end of the Military Band of the Peoples Liberation Army of China’s musical tour of the Caribbean.
 
Among the instruments donated are drums, trumpets, clarinet, a xylophone, keyboard and a number of other wind and percussion instruments. The ABDF Band was formed in 2001.
