'Suga B’ Debuts With Two Releases

Antigua St John’s - With the release of two tracks on radio, this week, Brooke 'Suga B' Lewis will become the newest young talent to break onto the local soca scene.

The young artiste, who hails from Golden Grove, penned the lyrics to Give You a Taste and Addiction, the two songs through which soca fans will be introduced to her unmistakable talent.

“Lewis’ voice carries an amazing range that already has some drawing comparisons between her and the likes of Dawn Penn,” the singer’s press statement read.

It described Lewis’ foray into the soca entertainment industry as a chance happening after a coworker told her about a rhythm that producer Wayne Mariette had posted on his Facebook page.

“I immediately gave it a listen and the rhythm jumped into my veins,” the artiste said. “For the entire night, the beat and the music just stayed with me. I was compelled to start writing and I came up with Give You a Taste.”

The other song, Addiction, has more of a cross over feel to it and brings out Lewis’ versatility as a strong vocalist.

The young songstress added that she is looking forward to making a huge impact in the annual Carnival celebrations for the first time, using her God given talents.

Also a talented actress, Lewis has represented Antigua & Barbuda at the International Youth Theatrical Festival in Cuba as a member of the National Youth Theatre.

“I love to write. I love acting and the theatre. So writing both songs somewhat came naturally for me. The fact that there was such good music to work with made the job a lot easier, so I must say a special thanks to Wayne,” she said.

As she steps out on this musical journey, Lewis is hopeful that soca fans will offer her encouragement and support, having being influenced by famous names such as Etta James, Etana, Denise Belfon, and Claudette “CP” Peters.
