The Revellers Mas troupe and the Burning Flames were the big winners on Carnival Tuesday as they walked away with two of the most coveted prizes.
Revellers, celebrating their 35th year of mas, under the guidance of Colin "Wanga" Martin, won the band of the year title yet again, while the Burning Flames were the road march winners for their song, Bullbud.
It was played 72 times on the road, while the Red Hot Flames’ Wootup was played 60 times for the first runner up spot. Red Hot also got second runner up with a rising favourite, Hitman.
In the band of the year competition, Revellers, playing a mas called Revellers in Retrospect - in observance of their 35th year - won the band of the year (large band), beating out Dynamics, who played Celebration. Solid International, which portrayed the Road to Bharat, was adjudged second runner up.
In the senior medium bands tropical fantasy category, Dynamics were the winner, leaving the first runner up spot to Solid International, while Silkdus placed 2nd runner up with their portrayal of At the End of the Rainbow.
In the senior Carnival tropical fantasy, Revellers won, while the first runner up went to Myst playing Paparazzi.
In the small band category, tropical fantasy, the Vitus Mas troupe was adjudged the winner, playing Pied Piper, while Pure Passion was first runner up for De ja vu and second runner up went to Exoitic Mas for Lost at Sea.
Ali and Associates won band of the year in medium bands for Reflections of Haiti Incandescent Rex, while Fantasy 268 won first runner up with We come to Play. African Gems, playing Mas and Culture, won second runner up.
Wadadli Madness won the small band contest, as it portrayed For your Eyes Only, while Sensay of the Dominica Cultural Divas placed first runner up.
Colour Revolution won the mini bands competition with a display called Oriental, while Merry Makers won first runner up with Rise of the Great Song Empire.
For the opening parade, Scotia won the float competition, with the AIDS Secretariat placing first runner up and Costume Island Antigua getting second runner up.
