Quarter finals sessions disrupted by inclement weather over the weekend are to resume on Monday.
President of the Calypso Association Jerome Bleau said “the rain disrupted the shows at Pepperpot, and
Masters Calypso tent, which forced us to cancel, but the 12 contestants that remain will sing this evening."
It has also been agreed that this year's King and Queen competition will be held at the St Johnson's Village Sports Complex. Calypsonians had previously rejected the change in venue.
Bleau said having toured the facility, the performers have agreed to go along with the decision. He said although it is a different venue from the Antigua Recreation Grounds, the facility is secure and will be appropriately decorated for the event.
There will also be secure parking, as security personnel will be posted at the grounds on the night of the competition. Bleau added that calypso lovers can be assured that the facility has enough seats to accomodate them.
He encouraged the public to come out and support the event at the new location. The Carnival Development Committee made the move to help bring Carnival into the communities around the island.
They believe that this will bring more people to the shows, as they will no longer have to travel to the city to attend a show.
