Antigua St. John's - "All systems are go" for this weekend's carnival show, asserted Carnival Development Committee Chairman Kayode O'Marde, even as he disclosed that the CDC continues to keep a close watch on weather conditions heading into the peak of the festivities.
O'Marde said they are hoping the weather improves, though Tropical Storm Ernesto has been generating heavy rainfall here.
"We have been in contact with the Met Office for the entire week and as was the case on the night of the Harney Motors Queen of Carnival show, we will watch the weather to see if it gets worse," the CDC boss said.
"If it gets to the point where we cannot have a show due to severe weather, then we will have to sit - the CDC and the Minister responsible for Carnival - and make a decision as to what happens next. But at this point all shows are a go."
Ten artistes are down to compete tonight in each category of the LIME Party Monarch competition at Carnival City, while tomorrow nine contenders will try to dethrone Keithroy "De Bear" Morson in the Wadadli Beer Calypso Monarch Competition.
Chairman of the Party Monarch sub-committee, Anique Joseph, is anticipating a good show.
