CDC and LIME Settle on DIGICEL Sponsorship

Antigua St. John's - LIME Corporate Communications Manager Paula C.M. Lee has said that the regional telecommunications giant, through its diamond sponsorship of Antigua Carnival 2012, has exclusive rights as service provider for the season.

Lee was responding to questions from Caribarena regarding the recent information that LIME had raised issues with the Carnival Development Committee (CDC) about the title sponsorship change from Hadeed Group to Digicel by Halcyon steel Orchestra, one of the main contenders in the Panorama competition set for Thursday.

The CDC had charged Director General of Communications for the Government of Antigua & Barbuda Maurice Merchant, who also holds a post on the committee, with responding to LIME’s concerns.

The communications manager confirmed that a response had indeed been received and even though she indicated that a compromise has been met, she declined to specify.

Lee has however assured the public that LIME will “continue to play its corporate role” in promoting Antiguan & Barbudan culture. LIME is the only diamond sponsor for Antigua Carnival 2012.

Attempts to reach Patrick Johnson, acting president of the Antigua Steel Pan Association, were unsuccessful.
