Antigua Grammar School Wins 2012 Teen Splash

2012 Teen Splash winnersAntigua St. John’s - It was a surprisingly all-male affair at the 2012 Source Teen Splash competition as the representatives of Antigua Grammar School (AGS), St. Joseph’s Academy (SJA) and Clare Hall Secondary (CHSS) led the way in the top spots to close the annual affair.

Contestant number seven – Winston Phoenix of AGS was adjudged the winner, while contestant number three – Linn-Donn Adams of SJA laid claim to the first runner up position, and contestant number four – Christopher Felipe of CHSS took the second runner up position.

Throughout the competition, Phoenix displayed his all-round abilities in intellect, creativity and the arts, but won only one individual title outside of the crown.

Adams won the question/answer and the pre-judged research segments, and the Most Photogenic award went to Janelle Brookes of the Antigua Girls’ High School.

The winners received laptop computers from the Ministry of Information, airline tickets from LIAT, as well as facials and zip-line tickets.



Also participating in The Source Teen Splash 2012 were Janet Simon and Leedon Morgan of Jennings Secondary School; Kevin Smith of National Technical Training Centre; Maurissa Jospeh of Pares Secondary School; Jennifer Medina of Ottos Comprehensive School; Keanna Payne of Christ the King High School; Suzetta Hamilton of Antigua & Barbuda Institute of Continuing Education; Donel Jeffrey and Maurisa Carbon Princess Margaret Secondary School; Alexa Floyde of CHSS;and and Shir-vonne Rhodes of All Saints Secondary School.

When young people do bad, it is plastered all over the place. When they do something good, it is not heard. The kids did their best and are enjoying their success. Why people love ugly so????? THE JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL whether you agree or not. To say that they dont deserve it is just mean. I did not see who did what but perhaps ms. Klass should make sure she is a judge next time.

It would be mean-spirited of me not to congratulate the declared winners of the 2012 Teensplash. You did not, after all, judge yourselves. With all due resect, however, I do not think you truly deserve the places you were eventually awarded. I know that it has now become sexy and popular to publicly concerned by the comparatively poor performance of boys/men in our schools and society. The Department of Culture, chairpersons of various committees, specially selected judges might well be, with justification, accused of being biased......sex ually
