Carnival 2012 Opens In Living Colour

Carnival 2012 Opens In Living ColourAntigua St. John’s - It’s official; Carnival 2012 under the theme “Iin Living Colour” was successfully launched on Saturday amidst an explosion of colour, splendour music and revelry.

Led by Parade Grand Master, veteran bandleader Colin “Wanga” Martin, over 20 mas’ troupes, groups, floats and contestants paraded through the city before converging on the Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG), Carnival City.

Building on a stage already set by a series of fetes organised over the past several weeks and culminating on Friday with the acclaimed Bacchanal ‘all you can drink’ affair, the Scotiabank Opening Parade was observed by thousands who lined the streets of St. Johns.

The Caribbean’s greatest summer festival is now in living colour.

Culture Minister Eleston Adams officially named the ARG as Carnival City to house this year’s 11 days of festivities.

After the official opening, soca diva Claudette “CP” Peters was first to grace the city’s stage during the entertainment lineup that followed.

But the day’s celebrations did not go uninterrupted as law enforcement officials were forced to divert the flow of the parade after a car caught fire in the middle of the procession.

According to reports, a Ford Expedition and a white Toyota motorcar were both engulfed in flames on High Street. It is reported that the Ford vehicle, which was part of the Beautiful People T-shirt mas’ troupe, caught fire while in motion.

The motorcar, which was parked on the side of the street, was reportedly scorched on the outside.

The parade was then diverted onto St. Mary’s Street and continued on to Carnival City without further incident.

Information on the cause of the fire has not been released.

First,i could not accuse you(if you quoted the scripture)of Judging me,since i do not participate in Carnival Revelry. Second, i was not referring to the scripture quoted,i was looking at the wider picture. As i said before,we,re not all born again christians,if someone chooses to participate in Carnival, that really does not make them an evil person,if someone is a christian and chooses to stay away from Carnival, that is their right to do so,it however does not give them the right to cast aspertions on others who choose to be apart of such.I have no problem with the quoted scripture,or any scripture in the bible,i happen to know it is all truth,i am also not a self righteous person, God will be the judge, just so you know, they will never be all righteous alive on earth. By quoting scriptures,do you think it will stop carnival?

No one is being "judged"
A Scripture was simply quoted verbatim. Take that up with God if you have a problem with HIS word.

As soon as I don't like what the Bible says, I accuse others of "judging" me.

I like Carnival, althou gh lately i am more a spectator than participator, i dont think anyone should be judged by others for taking part in Carnival, the reality is everyone is not born again Christians and as long as the world goes on,they always will be non-Christians, the bible tells us that. However i do not think that vulgarity and lewdness is the only way of expression, they should be some control as to how some persons behave during this time, its getting out of control, and really do not speak well for our small society, given the fact that some of these very young persons who express themself in such vulgar manner cannot represent themselves in other settings, time for some control.

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall NOT inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:21

Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment. Ecclesiastes 11:9
