CDC Announces Wadadli Beer Calypso Monarch Competition Finalists

Antigua St. John's - The Carnival Development Committee on Sunday night announced the names of the finalists for the Wadadli Beer Calypso Monarch Competition scheduled for Carnival City on Sunday August 5.

Following Sunday night's Semi-Finals Competition, the judges tabulated the scores from both the Quarter Finals and Semi-Finals Competitions and arrived at the following finalists:

1.  Calypso Jim
2.  King Fiah
3.  Princess Thalia
4.  Queen Gee Bee
5.  Queen Singing Althea
6.  Richie Francis
7.  Scorpion
8.  Young Destroyer
9.  Zacari

Chairman of the CDC Kayode O'Marde congratulated the Finalists outlining that he was very impressed with the level of calypso on display during the competition and believes that the Finals will prove to be one of the better competitions in recent times.

He also commended and thanked the proprietors of Paradise Lawn for partnering with the CDC in providing the facility and equipment, gratis for the rehearsals and hosting of the Party Monarch and Calypso Quarter and Semi-Finals competitions.

 "The goodwill of the folks at Paradise Lawn is very much appreciated and we look forward to their continued support throughout carnival 2012.

Carnival 2012 will run from July 28 to August 7 under the theme "In Living Colour."
