First Public Outing for Teen Splash Contestants

Antigua St. John’s – Newcomers Antigua & Barbuda Institute of Continuing Education (ABICE) and National Technical Training Centre (NTTC) are among the 12 schools will fielding contestants for this year’s The Source Teen Splash competition.

The 15 youths were introduced to the public on Saturday during a concert outside the doors of their title sponsor, The Source Clothing Store.

During their debut appearance, the teens, accompanied by Elite Dance Group, took the audience by surprise with their Flash Mob to Tizzy’s “Party Hard”, a release from the 2012 Teen Splash committee said.

Keeping  in tune with the overall theme of  “Travelling through Time”, the contestants also performed a medley of songs that included Ben E. King’s “Stand by Me”, Shaggy’s “Angel” Claudette “CP” Peters’ “Still Jammin” and Vybz Kartel’s “Summertime”.

A number of local entertainers also performed during the event, to include Mad-T-guans (formerly known as Juggle for Life), Janine, Promise, New Alpha, Ricardo Drue and Tian Winter.

Vying for The Source Teen Splash 2012 title are Suzetta Hamilton representing ABICE;  Shir-Vonne Rhodes - All Saints Secondary School; Janelle Brookes - Antigua Girls’ High School; Winston Phoenix – Antigua Grammar School; Keanna Payne - Christ the King High School; Alexa Floyd and Christopher Felipe - Clarehall Secondary School;  Janet Simon and Leedon Morgan - Jennings Secondary School; and Kevin Smith – NTTC.

Meanwhile, Ottos Comprehensive School is being represented by Jennifer Medina; Pares Secondary School by Maurissa Joseph; Princess Margaret School is jointly represented by Donel Jeffery and Maurisa Carbon; and St.Joseph’s Academy’s rep is Linn-Donn Adams.

Showtime for Teen Splash 2012 will be 8 pm on July 31 at Carnival City.

Contestants will compete in four segments: Research Segment which will be held on Tuesday, July 17 2012 prior to the main event and the remaining three: Personality and Aspiration, Talent and Interview to be held on the night of show.

The winner of The Source Teen Splash 2011 was 14-year-old Edward Buckley of St Joseph’s Academy.
