Antigua St John's - With the support of Minister of Culture Elston Adams and newly appointed Chairman of the Carnival Development Committee (CDC) Kayode O’Marde, the Myst Carnival group launched its mas camp and registration in the old New Gates building in Redcliffe Quay on Saturday.
Manager Marlon Rawlins assured his fellow "Mystics" that the 2012 celebrations would far outdo the five-year successive productions.
“It is indeed consistent with Myst standards,” he told the packed room. “We continue to raise the bar and exceed expectations. Thank you for keeping us on our toes.”
He said the band had “revolutionized” the mas experience in Antigua & Barbuda, and 2012 would deliver an experience to remember, through a series of anticipated events like the Scavenger Hunt, Heels the all-inclusive party, Prep Mas, Carnival Monday and Tuesday, and Blackout, with others in between.
“There is good Carnival… There is better Carnival… Then there is Myst Carnival,” Rawlins said.
Culture Minister Eleston "Namba" Adams, who was on hand to endorse the band’s launch, reassured that the government was working feverishly to settle outstanding payments to groups like Myst so they can effectively prepare themselves and deliver a Carnival experience second to none.

“Don't believe that this minister will have your money and keep you waiting," Adams said.
"In a very short time, your money will be here. Don't wait on it. Keep moving forward."
He meanwhile expressed confidence that the Myst team would continue to deliver productions that everyone could appreciate, and lauded the number of driven young people that make up the team.
“Myst takes Carnival to the next level," the minister said. "I was at Sunday’s costume presentation and it was thrilling. Antigua is proud of you. You have laid the foundation and others will have to build on it."
He encouraged the team to “accept the challenge” of expectation and continue to raise the bar.
Chairman O’Marde endorsed the minister’s statements before confessing to be a longstanding Myst supporter, having revelled with the band from its genesis.
He said he had watched over the past five years as the bad matured and improved. His most memorable year, he said, was 2010.
Also on hand to celebrate the launch of the camp was popular local soca musician Tian Winter, who performed the “Myst Anthem” while the Myst banner was raised.
Reigning Queen of Carnival Latesha Greene cut the ribbon with Rawlins to signal the venue’s official opening.
The first week of registration is committed to returning Mystics, who, according to management, will have the first option on costumes. After that, new prospects can register without the guarantee of being able to get a costume for the group they want.
The Myst Camp features two floors of costumes and entertainment.

$ 1300
There is only one section for $ 1300 and that is the frontline. All the others are much cheaper. You people act like we paying for JUST the costume. While you look on and hate, we will enjoy ourselves
