And so Sharon Watson, I will never judge a book by its cover. To suggest that by the name on the cover means that I should think bigger is to buy a pig in a bag - to judge a book by its cover.
That my friend is called thinking big and that is why I will not jump to conclusion about what Wade may be saying. I'm merely saying that I hope it is not an issue of sour grapes.
Please let us use a sense of balance in this discussion.

What does the man personal life has to do with his dissapointment in the govt? Even if he lost confidence because of his business failure,it is quite a valid reason,It is the policies of the Govt,along with the inability to move the country one step forward that would have cost most business failures,like those of us who are not business owners,the policies has stagnated us and has caused extreme stressfull situations in our daily lives,not forgetting all the unfullfiled promises,there is more than enough going on for even the strongest of supporter to be dissillusioned, only a few who has no care for country would want to see this govt return to power in the next elections,anyon e else,i really do not care who,but the UPP just dont cut it,they have overstayed they time anyway,i think they messed with the last elections for their own demise,

Perception is reallity, is a phrase often used to describe intent. Your intentions are admirable, and the plan which you are working from will need amending from time to time, (red-linning) and that's fine. JUST STAY THE COURSE AND LEAVE YOUR LEGACY.
Food for thought, a great warrior/soldier who is in charge of the troops during war, is always prepared for the inevitable; rainwear is also a good tool to have. 2 Cents it must be noted that Barnes' presentation comes from the Foreword (check the article again). I would think that if he is commenting, he should indicate that he read the book.
I know that Barnes is an ALPite to the bone. His "friends" know him!
I NEVER said I read the book. My commentary indicated that I was hoping that it is not an issue of sour grapes. I will read the book once it p** my academic bar and then I will make my judgment.
Auddie - It is your right to make whatever political decision via voting that you want. I will not seek to influence you. Why have jumped on my bandwagon - to douse me w/ flames?
Our democracy is below par and that is why neither the UPP or the ALP can sway me. Both have let down Antiguans and Barbudans in a very big way, and I cannot stake a vote on them.
The ALP could very well win the next election, because it has a core group of abt 20,000 persons who will always go out and vote. The UPP has less than that w/ some ALP defectors, plus its disenchanted supporters - add to that fence sitters. Voila ALP!

Many Antiguan were disappointed in the last two terms of the ALP aministration, the UPP won obviously because former ALP supporters were willing to take a chance on them. We were even more disappointed by their obvious incompetence in Governance. . The People are using this media to cry out even those who formely decided to give the UPP a chance I am one of them. Where is it written that if you fall down you must stay down. The UPP betrayed my trust in them and I now cant wait to see the back of them. Since there are no other options I will take a chance on the ALP again, if for no other reason but for them to claw back all that the UPP has taken from us the Antiguan Citizens and residents who have paid their immigration dues and have earned the right to live here and become citizens. It is one thing to harp on a problem, but quite another to find a solution. The solution is follow democratic process or organise a coup!!!!!

I know of persons who use to work at his hotel that could write a book about him. Not to mention his years acting like a mormon with xxxx and xxxx like xxxr xxxs.

2 cents, contrary to what you think, I am not and will never be a UPPite. It is amazing how people like you come up on this or any other blog and seek to castigate persons because they have differing views.
I made a statement reflecting a possibility, but you seem to miss that point. The reality is that sour grapes at times are just that sour grapes without any substance and it is why I said that I would read the book first before jumping hook, line and sinker, before agreeing with Wade, and more-so Barnes. And I see Barnes as a political lackey parading through his journalism.
I wonder though 2 Cents if you have read the book!!!!!!!! Me thinks that thou are politically motivated hence the attack.

At one point would you consider standards of objective excellence when tested against the UPP's governance performanc and the apparent incompetence of its leaders, worthy of responsible critique?
That petty folly that you UPPities demonstrates is amazing! Any suggestion that your sweetheart government celebrates mediocrity is seen as sour grapes. But there are grapes that are indeed sour and must be named for what they are.

To be more persuasive, it is better that you produce a body of mounting evidence refuting what Mr Wade has argued and show in fact and deed that the UPP lived up and surpassed its promises without the typical blaming game. Wheel and come again.

Wadalian, reading your post, I was reminded that the stabilization fund, as it was called at the time, was supposed to be a temporary measure. The suggestion at the time was it would not last beyond two years. Its just telling that much of the moneys used for the "fencing scandal" and probably the buying of used buildings, came via the stabilization fund

I have not seen anywhere that Everton Barnes has read the book. The foreword appears to be his only taste. I would have thought that before writing on what appears to be a basis of conviction that he would have either read the book or quoted from someone who did read the book.
I am guarded by persons such as Wade since the fox does consider the grapes sour because it cannot get to them.
On the other hand, I am not so sure that I can trust Barnes and his articles. He has proven time and time again that he is a political lackey looking for UPP to disappear so that he may garner some position in the new ALP regime.
I look forward to seeing if this is the fox vs grapes analogy or it is the case of something insightful and will lend to serious discussions on the development of our society.
