Antigua St. John's - The Ministry of Social Transformation continues to partner in various efforts at the community level to shape the priorities of the nation’s youth.
On Tuesday, Parliamentary Secretary Senator Malaka Parker joined representatives from civic groups and other organisations at the Green Bay Primary School to celebrate National Reading Day.
Acting Principal Genevieve Gomes said National Reading Day was part of Education Week activities which encourage reading throughout schools in Antigua & Barbuda.
She explained that people of influence were invited to the school to read to students.
Other activities involved “Drop everything and read” games, older students reading to the younger ones, and visitors reading stories to the studies.
“The drop everything and read game was exciting and encouraging,” Gomes said. “The bell would go and teachers and student would stop what they were doing immediately and begin to read.”
