Canadian Business College Scouts for Prospects

CCSET International Academy in conjunction with Centenniel CollegeAntigua St. John’s – CCSET International Academy in conjunction with Centenniel College in Canada, is targeting secondary school and college level students for an educational seminar on Wednesday June 20 at the Deluxe Cinema.

The Toronto based school will be offering courses in partnership with CCSET which will give students here the chance to start several college courses, a release stated.

For example, Centenniel’s accounting courses are accepted by both Certified General Accountants (CGA) Ontario and CGA Caribbean. CGA holds a reciprocal agreement with ACCA so graduates can transfer their accounting seamlessly when required.

During the informative 1 to 2:30 pm session, students will learn how they can be a part of the Canadian education system; how to qualify to attend Centennial; how they can work and study at the same time; how they can complete CGA certifications; and how they can work in Canada after graduation.

During town hall style meeting, students who bring the appropriate documentation can be accepted directly into the programme as academic advisors will be on hand. Parents who wish to find out more information are also invited.

At the event, CCSET will award one laptop and one smart phone by draw to students present. Students can get tickets for the draw in advance from Deluxe Cinemas, a sponsor of the event, or from their school or by calling Teresa Emanuel at 720-3212.

The main facilitator will be John Harris, who heads Centenniel’s Business Programme and teaches Financial Accounting, Audit and Corporate Finance. He will also be conducting several media interviews and visits to schools during his time in Antigua.

Centennial, Ontario’s first community college, was established in 1966 and is best known for its record of exemplary teaching, innovative programming and extensive partnership building. It is recognised as one of the most culturally diverse post-secondary institutions in Canada as almost 100 ethno-cultural groups are represented and 80 languages are spoken on campus.

The key programmes for September 2012 include accounting, financial services, international business, and financial fraud investigation, with more programmes being added as interest is demonstrated.
