Antigua St John's - State Insurance Corporation (SIC), one of the longest-serving indigenous companies in Antigua & Barbuda, has been a part of football in the country for over two decades.
Antigua & Barbuda Football Association, Everton “Batow” Gonsalves made a presentation of appreciation to the company on Wednesday for its commitment to the sport.
State Insurance Corporation is celebrating 35 years of service to Antigua & Barbuda.
“State has been a part of football for a very long time,” Gonsalves said. “This presentation is simply our way at the Football Association to say thank you to this organisation which has supported football by providing insurance to our players over the years. We have a great relationship and we expect to maintain and improve this affiliation for mutual benefit.”
General Manager M Lyndell Francis-Butler was very grateful to Gonsalves and his association for their display of appreciation.
“We are a very pleased to be a part of football and as good corporate citizens we intend to continue to support sports and development in the country,” she said.
SIC was established in 1977, mainly in response to the common concern for the extent of foreign exchange leakage created in a foreign dominated sector. It was established with a capital sum of $100,000 (loan by the government) and given the status of a department of government.
