The awards banquet was held on the lawns of the Copper & Lumber Store Hotel on Saturday 3rd November. The outstanding employees fell into three categories of awards, depending on their tenure of service to the NPA.

The Bronze Awards were dedicated to those who have given 15 – 19 years of service. In this category the awardees were Denise Phillip, Jasmine Brooks, Denisia Malone, Flavia Alicia Daniel, D. Ira Gonsalves-Barriero and Amberzine Martin. They were presented with their award pins by Chairman of the NPA Board Claude Anthony.

The silver awardees would have worked at the NPA for 20 – 24 years. They are Cheryl Lovell, Evette Benjamin,  R. Danny Goodwin, Elizabeth Simon, Lynette Richardson and L. Abigail Smith. They were handed their awards by the Minister with responsibility for National Parks, the Hon. Eleston Adams.

The Gold awards were presented to Parks Commissioner Anne Marie Martin and Michael Flerimus by Governor General Dame Louise Lake-Tack.

Five of the NPA’s outstanding employees have been with the NPA for over 30 years. They qualified as platinum awardees, earning themselves a cruise across the Caribbean. The awardees are Eloise Francis, Molviar Jackson, Brenda Skepple, Linroy Adams, and Marius Smith.

During the ceremony, the keynote address was delivered by former Parks Commissioner Errol James, who recalled the many outstanding Antiguans and Barbudans who have given their skills and talents to the NPA, and the other employees like the awardees who rose steadily through the ranks to positions of leadership.

The present Parks Commissioner, Anne Marie Martin, on behalf of all the awardees, expressed her delight about the entire ceremony and said the dedicated contribution of the employees has helped to distinguish the Nelson’s Dockyard National Park as an institution of high standards and excellence.
