FSRC Official Receives International Award

Ms. Kaye McDonaldAntigua St. John’s -  The Financial Services Regulatory Commission (FSRC) is pleased to announce that Director of Gaming Ms. Kaye McDonald was selected as Gaming Regulator of the Year: Evolving Jurisdiction by the International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL).

The IMGL proudly announced the recipients of its  Annual Gaming Regulator of the Year awards on August 27, 2012.

These awards, which continue the IMGL mission of “Advancing Gaming Law Through Education,” are given annually to worthy individuals in recognition of their contribution to the gaming law body of work.

For the first time, the IMGL honoured four regulators from around the world for their contribution to the gaming industry. In the past, IMGL gave only one award annually and rotated jurisdictions.

This year, the IMGL awarded outstanding gaming regulator in four categories: The Americas, Europe, Indian Gaming, and Evolving Jurisdictions. Awardees are selected from gaming regulators across the globe who have been nominated by their colleagues.

Criteria for selection include an individuals’ overall body of work in their career as a regulator; contributions to the gaming industry; noteworthy achievements in the regulation of the gaming industry; providing a stable regulatory environment in their jurisdiction; being identified as a person of high integrity; and demonstration of service in the community.

Chief Executive Officer of  the Commission Mr. John Benjamin recognised Ms. McDonald’s efforts throughout the years, and stated  “that to be awarded by such an international body as the IMGL not only redounds on her but also the jurisdiction.

Additionally, Human Resource Manager Mrs. Arlene Winter stated, “We are indeed proud of Ms. McDonald’s achievements and this international recognition of her professional integrity and years of dedicated services to the Commission, our jurisdiction and the gaming industry in general.”

In commenting on her achievement, Ms. McDonald said: “I am honoured to achieve this award, particularly by such a prestigious body as the IMGL. This award is not just a personal milestone, but most importantly it recognises the efforts made every day by regulators. Therefore, this award is a representation of the Commission and the jurisdiction work and continuous efforts to enhance global regulatory standards.”

hurdles, it is not a regulators job to build industry it is to "regulate". it is industry developments job to build industry.

other jurisdictions (Malta, Isle of Man, Alderney, Kahnawake, etc) have industry development representation at trade shows.

These hurdles (tighter regulations, etc) are there to protect our jurisdiction so when some(gaming companies) leave; why aren't we trying to get some new ones....Ms. "Gaming Regulator of the Year" ?

@ rubin alcohol: (1) Belize does not regulate online gambling (operators who moved there avoided regulation), (2) Costa Rica does not licence - much less regulate - online gambling operators who moved back office staff there did so for business & commercial reasons... but don't let facts get in the way of personal vindictiveness.

yeah strong regulations that took us from over 80 companies with thousands of jabs to barely a handful. i guess i should applaud that. reminds me of a certain minister who said we were in a luxury compartment of a fast train, only to find out its a category five hurricane.
didnt you hear the pm say the offshore sector is all but dead money wrench. how long has the current boss been in charge.

Always so proud of patterns and habits that embody executing with excellence! Congrats Ms. Kaye McDonald. Great example for other professionals that smallness of islands isn't relevant to standards of superlative performance!

Those other south american and latin american countries have weaker regulations thats why companies are prepared to leave run there. Check your facts before you speak. Have an asprin instead of rubbin alcohol.

Have you sought to ascertain why they left? Dig deeper and you would realise how the cards are actually played. As a hint its for strong regulations within the jurisdiction.
