Captain Ian Arthur BruntonAntigua St. John’s – The Board of Directors of regional airline LIAT announced Tuesday that there’s a new man at its helm.

The appointment of Captain Ian Arthur Brunton as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) takes effect from August 1, 2012, and he possesses a wealth of experience in the aviation industry.

“Captain Brunton has had a long and distinguished career in aviation, serving in almost every aspect of the business,” LIAT’s Corporate Communications Manager Desmond Brown said in a release.

“He began his career as a pilot in the Royal Air Force and flew a wide range of jets from military types to those operated by BWIA and Caribbean Airlines.”

The new CEO also held the position of chairman of the Trinidad & Tobago Pilots Association, as well as positions in the State’s Safety Oversight System, and served as the first chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority.

In 2006 Captain Brunton became Vice President Operations in BWIA West Indies Airways Limited, and in 2007 was the Executive Vice President of Caribbean Airlines Limited.

He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Caribbean Airlines Limited in 2009.

Captain Brunton is a qualified Attorney-at-Law and holds both Bachelor and Master of Laws degrees from the University of London. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Certified Mediator, the release said.

Captain Brunton takes over from Mrs. Julie Reifer-Jones who has been Acting CEO since Mr. Brian Challenger resigned from the post on June 30, 2012.

LIAT - The Caribbean Airline Some Love To Hate!

#5 John French II » 2012-08-01 18:27

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock. Should History Inform Future Directions? You be The Judge. Given the numerous Privateer Forays by Bimshire & Helen with BA's Carib Express, Red Jet, Caricom Air , Trust but Verify!
When the Media suggested that LIAT was intent on engaging Captain Brunton as CEO, LIAT"S Board said it was not so. They Lied. Why did they do this to a long suffering people? Birdland Town Crier's response may suffice:Quote:
The people are still oppressed and living without the rights that had been hard fought for!
The people have no rights which the Political Elites & Bourgeoisie should respect.
http://www.trinidadexpress.com/business/Ian_Brunton_is_new_LIAT_CEO-164537666.html Most would state that the "Captain" has an impressive pedigree to lead LIAT given the colonial past of these SIDS.
Troubling Questions: Begin with the Town Crier's; The Feud with "FIFA Jack Sparrow"; The Captain's Role in the purchase of CAL's Nine French & Italian ATR's; His Role in the purchase of Air Jamaica; and, The Captain's Role in the Travel Alliance with Air India.
Will GoAB's Capital Investment & Economic Interests be Improved?

How stupid are we??

#2 Finally » 2012-08-01 08:56

LIAT does it again. another useless Ex CEO who could not make it in another airline. And worse, a tricky Trini. they finally got there hands on LIAT, it will only be a matter of time that LIAT will be owned and controlled by CAL. How stupid is this board of directors, no one did their homework. What is the performance clause, when do we get to fire him, or does he just do another Challenger, Cullen, Darby etc etc. collect big salary and chill out. Mario, you should have know better. you too Paul. SHAME
